For Ross Brownson, one of the joys of working at Washington University is teaching and mentoring graduate 黑料社s.
On April 10, Brownson, the Steven H. and Susan U. Lipstein Distinguished Professor at the Brown School, was honored with an Outstanding Faculty Award at the ceremony, hosted by the . He was one of eight faculty members commended for their remarkable contributions to the PhD 黑料社 community.
Brownson expressed gratitude for the recognition. 鈥淥ur 黑料社s are the best and the brightest who constantly remind me that our future is in good hands,鈥 he remarked.

Nicole Strombom, a PhD 黑料社 in public health sciences, supported by Callie Walsh-Bailey, PhD 鈥20, and Amanda Gilbert, MPH 鈥20 and current PhD 黑料社 in public health sciences, took the lead in nominating Brownson for the award, highlighting his commitment to 黑料社 success.
“Ross is a strong advocate for the 黑料社s he works with. He provides mentorship and guidance that help with career paths, funding, and getting the most out of the PhD process,鈥 she said. 鈥淩oss serves on many PhD committees as both the Chair and as a member. He is always willing to guide 黑料社s to helpful partnerships and gives guidance on publication avenues. Ross is willing to engage in conversations and presentations that promote professional development and guides 黑料社s to do their best work.鈥
In addition to honoring outstanding faculty, the ceremony also recognized the contributions of five university staff members who received Outstanding Staff awards.
